Description
RESA Professional Development for English Language Arts will focus on the Six Shifts in ELA /Literacy in the Common Core State Standards. Brief segments of videos explaining the shifts will be shared with time for group discussions of each shift. Consultants will follow-up with suggested resources, “Less is More: Teaching Literature with Short Texts” by Kimberly Hill Campbell and “Deeper Reading” by Kelly Gallagher.

Description
Process Support will allow time for LEAs and Charters to make connections with the Summer Institute work with planning and evaluating local PD and the Day 1 RESA Content session. To share significant ideas from Day 1 Content sessions. To explore and align online resources they keep seeing referenced in content sessions and new online sites with new standards. To share pacing guides, progress reports, PD session plans, and other local tools under development in LEAs and Charters. To give and get feedback from each other on local PD plans/timelines using a checklist .
Common Core State Standards, the Hunt Institute, and the Council of Chief State School Officers have commissioned a series of video vignettes.
This series of short videos were developed to help all stakeholders better understand the breadth and depth of the Common Core State Standards as well as how these Standards "will improve teaching, make classrooms better, create shared expectations, and cultivate lifelong learning for all students." -- (James B. Hunt Institute for Educational Leadership and Policy, 2011).
